White acrylic with shellac

So I recently did a set of nails for my sister. For the acrylic, I mixed CND additives in titanium pearl with CND perfect color powder in clear in a 1:3 ratio. After filing I topped with CND shellac in Mother of Pearl. I really wish I could pick up the sparkle of the shellac. This is probably one of my favorite sets to date.

Thanks for checking me out :)

Shellac glitter rockstar

Some Shellac rockstar nails I did for my best friend. One coat of blackpool with a custom glitter mix and two coats of top coat to smooth the roughness

Julep angela swatch pic

So I finally decided to try Julep Angela. Julep describes it as a 'molten' chrome I believe, I think thats supposed to be a fancy term for a duochrome. In the bottle she looks like a deep metallic green with a very slight purple tinge. Unfortunately the purple is nowhere to be see on my nails. I think its a great fall color, and the formula was better than most of my other juleps. Pics are 2 coats no top coat.

Julep Ginger

So I've been on a Julep kick lately, since I own so many and hardly wear them and Ginger one of my favorites. Julep describes her as a holo (in my opinion she is not a true holo) but she reminds me of those stickers you would get as a kid that would change slightly when you tilted them back and forth. The formula on this one was ok but very streaky and I got a lot of drag marks. I ended up loading my brush and just kind of floating it on. Anyways here she is... 3 coats no top coat.

Julep Harper and NOPI: NOTD

Nails of the day featuring Candid Cameron from Nicole by OPI modern family collection and Julep's Harper. I believe Harper was touted as a full coverage glitter but i would have needed at least 4 coats. My hubby gave me the NOPI for xmas and they matched perfectly so I went for 2 coats of each instead. Hope you like it

It's Alive

From China Glaze Halloween 2011 collection, here's It's alive. I love this color. It's so swampy and sparkly, my niece thinks it looks like witches brew. This was also my first time using the glue base and it worked really well. Hope you like, thanks for stopping by

Optimus Prime Themed Glitter Acrylics Tips

So I recently used one of my custom glitter acrylic mixes to do my nails. This was my first attempt at freehand smile lines, and I think I did pretty good. The glitter was not that easy to work with, I probably should have practiced with some plain pink and white first, but oh well!

Left thumb: Could have been a little longer

Left hand: You can see i lost a few glitters along the way

Right Hand: Lol. Terrible but its a start!
I used the crystal pink from Born Pretty Store to make the glitter and cap the whole nail. I also refiled them a bunch cause I couldn't tell how fanned out they were till I saw the pics. Hope you enjoyed the pics :)

Acrylic mixes I made :D Pic Heavy

Here are a couple acrylic glitter mixes I made. They are so hard to photograph. Hope you like them.

My son actually picked these colors. He named it Optimus

Small blue glitter, small red glitters and small/med blue hex.

Small Green glitter, small/med green hex, and a pinch of small gold glitter

We call it Grassor

This mess is just a combo of all the small glitters i had. Horrid photo i know.

I will probably never wear this one but ill keep it for a bit.
So hard to photograph

I have already decided on which one i will use for my first free hand glitter tips, I'll post some pics of that soon. I also have a couple other mixes I made I may swatch in the future. What do you guys think about acrylic nails? Would you get glitter tips? What color combos would you like?

Little Fingers

So my latest partner in nail polishing is my niece Monica. She always wants to play nail polish store, paint her nails, my nails, my boys nails, or just about anything else! Here are a couple pics of her modelling just for fun <3
When the kids play batman she is always catwoman, so she wanted tiger nails :D
Such a ham <3
Well just thought I'd share, for her next mani she has requested something killer whale-ish, with blue stamping and pinkish (her words), lol. When I come up with something that fits that description ill make sure to post! :D <3

Born Pretty Review- Complete Acrylic system

I have recently started doing my own acrylic nails and was in desperate need of supplies.
Of course my first stop was Born Pretty Store.

I ordered the complete system for $16.59 and was not disappointed!

The kit includes 3, 30 gram acrylic powders in clear, pink, and white.

They all came with an inside seal so there was no spillage during shipping!

75ml Acrylic Liquid & glass dappen dish (see first pic)
So my number one concern when ordering this set was the acrylic liquid. I contacted Born Pretty to ask them if their liquid contains MMA, they replied that the factory said it was MMA free. In all honesty I don't know if I believe it, just based on the smell of the liquid. It is really terrible, and has a weird smell to it. I have never personally smelled a confirmed mma liquid but compared to other liquids I have used (NSI, Nailene, Kiss, and American nail) it smells even worse. Also its a clear liquid, which may throw some of you off if you are used to the standard purple liquid.
The powder is great, the pink and the clear, dry completely clear, you hardly need to buff them. The white powder, I find, requires a dryer brush for application, I got a lot of runny wet balls when first trying it out. Final verdict: I love the powders! They can be ordered individually for $2.99 and can be found here : Pink, Clear and White. You can also order all 3 for $5.71 here .

Now on to the brushes; These were the main reason I ordered this specific set.

Hideaway in the handle end.
Acrylic brushes size 2, 4, 6, 8 & 10
#2, 4, 6, 8 &10

This set included 5 sizes of brushes, in sizes 2, 4, 6 (mainly for 3d acrylic art) 8 and 10 (acrylic nail application) They have a metal handle which doubles as a hideaway lid, I liked these as I wanted a brush with a little weight to it. They came in great shape, and while they are not the highest quality, they are good quality, and I can see these lasting a while with the proper care. I don't tend to put the 8 or 10 back into the hideaway cap just because its a tight fit, and I don't want crazy bristles, but the smaller ones are no problem.

Clear acrylic over 'natural' nail tips
Finally Polished!

Overall I am really happy with this purchase, and would definitely recommend this set for beginners, or anyone who needs practice and doesn't want to spend a fortune on their products. Hope you guys enjoyed this review!
You can find this set here -> Acrylic System 3 Colors Powder Liquid Dish W/ 5 Purple Brushes

Born Pretty has also offered Coupon Code TENOFFK31 for 10% off all purchases, and don't forget they always offer free shipping!

Konad fail?

Here's my latest mani, I'm not happy with it but I'm running out of polish, so it stayed.
Base colour is 3 coats Zoya Jo, I'm undecided on this one, the formula applied ok, but it took forever to dry, and today its still gummy and easily dentable. I stamped with Orly Au Champagne, which I of course love. It came out sheer and pearly, exactly the way I wanted. The design is from Konad plate M74, and was actually the reason I wanted this plate. The thin lines didn't transfer very well, but that could be due to a variety of things.
Overall I like the look, its subtle and pretty, but my nails are definitely too short for this design. Bleh. What do you guys think?

Nails of the day x 2

So I have been feeling super uninspired with my nail polish lately. My collection is tiny (comparatively)  and I've worn every colour/stamping combo i can think of without being tacky. BLeh!!!!!! Anyways here are my current nails
You can see a tiny bit of the holo sparkles
Super sparkly in real life.
For this I used Wet and Wild Metallica, topped with Nubar Hologram glitter. I stamped with Konad Special Black, and plate M65. This design gave me a whole wack of trouble, it took me about probably 25 tries to get all my nails done, and even then they are wonky. I don't know why.

Now here's a bonus picture. After years apart I recently reconnected with my life long best friend Nini, who I have known basically as long as I've been alive. So of course when she came to visit I had to pull out the nail polish bucket ( yes it's a bucket). Now your probably gonna be like what it's just another leopard Mani, but the best part of this pic (other than my lovely hand model) is the base colour. This is Color Club Electro Candy, and this is one of the few pics I've got where you can see the true colour, and I LOVE it, even tho I still kind of hate pink.

Now that Nini and I are back together so to speak, we are planning many more nail adventures together, including do it yourself acrylics, so stay tuned :P

Nails of the day / fav mani ever!!

I really think this is the best nail job I've ever done. I LOVE it, and have gotten so many compliments so far.

For this mani I used Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Black Platinum for the base colour, then stamped the fishnet design from Konad Plate M57 with Zoya Trixie. I stamped the flowers from plate M60 with Princess special white, and added some dollar store rhinestones. I literally can't take my eyes off my nails, I totally impressed myself, lol. So I hope you guys like it :D
